I want my freedom. I still live at home with my family. My family has 5 dogs (started out with 2, they got together and had more). I've expressed to my mother on multiple occasions that when I get my own place I want to live on my own. No pets, no children, just me.

Ever since I was a toddler, I've adored learning all I could about animals, animal behavior, etc. My animal science knowledge was so good in school that I'd impress my teachers. People come to me when they need advice on pets.yop I want to know everyone's reasons for being or wanting to be petfree.. For me, the biggest reason is that pets restrict my freedom. I'm the kind of person that likes to do things on a whim, sleep in/be lazy if I want to, take a spontaneous trip for a few days, sit in the bath for hours, stay out late or spend the night somewhere on an impulse, etc.

Totally agreed. I think one of the biggest issues of pet culture is how people think animals are deeper than they really are. A dog can't help you get out of depression. A cat can't give you advise.
